CV OF SAUSAN


Sausan is the Master Teacher of the Sausan Academy of Egyptian Dance (SAED) (www.sausanacademy.com) since 2004, and Artistic Director and Choreographer of the Sausan Ensemble Egyptian Dance Company (SEEDC) since 2009.  She is also the Owner and Chef of Al-Masri Egyptian Restaurant (AMER) (www.almasrisfca.com) since 1999 and has been selling baklava online since 2012 under the name Bitchin’ Baklava (www.bitchinbaklava.com).  All companies/businesses are affiliated and are located and operate at 4031 Balboa Street in San Francisco, California.

A belly dancer since 1972 with prior study in Flamenco, Sevillanas, Thai Classical Dance, English Highland, and Scottish dance, Sausan has focused her dance studies on the dance of Egypt, its culture, cuisine, arts, and history.  As a result she has worked closely with the Fine Arts Museum, the Ethnic Dance Festival, and the Natural World Museum  in San Francisco, California; the International House and the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at U. C. Berkeley, California; and Stanford University, Palo Alto California since 1999 in participating, producing, choreographing, and/or directing many of its events.  A veteran of the United States Navy Reserves of 22 years, Sausan has danced all over the world on and off overseas military bases and has been awarded Letters of Appreciation for her goodwill entertainment to the deployed troops of the United States armed forces.

An all-inclusive, personally developed and academically outlined, non-conventional curriculum featuring a complete one-year study divided into four three-month semesters designed for beginner to advanced; since 2004.  Classes include Dance Principles and Technique, Theory and Philosophy, Expression and Attitude, Music Interpretation and Application, Dance History and Culture, Celebration and Cuisine, Performance and Critique.
